In an open tendering procedure Alfa Laval Benelux BV, together with VIRO in Echt, won a contract to replace two decanting centrifuges, including the peripheral equipment and controls, at the Geestmerambacht wastewater treatment plant in Warmenhuizen (in the Dutch province of North Holland). In this turnkey project VIRO provided project management and engineering, working as an extension to Alfa Laval. The Project Management department of VIRO was responsible for the entire internal and external coordination of the project. The detail engineering was carried out at no fewer than three branches of VIRO, for example. The Hengelo branch did the Construction & Architecture section, Arnhem the Electrical, Instrumental and Automation section, and Echt the Mechanical and HS&E part. Besides multidisciplinary engineering and project coordination, the services provided also included preparing the invitations for tenders and selecting the subcontractors. We also prepared the Health & Safety Plan, including Risk Identification & Evaluation, the quality plan, general project planning and the work schedules for the phased renovation. A fine example of collaboration between VIRO branches, a specialised client and various sub-contractors.
