At the beginning of May, a 125-ton MPPE water-purification plant was transported from Delfzijl to the Kollsnes gas field in Norway. This Macro Porous Polymer Extraction unit is the fourth one that VIRO worked on for Veolia MPP Systems. PMF Mechanical built the 15x6x12 meter (LxWxH) installation in Delfzijl because of the close proximity to the harbour. VIRO supplied the basic engineering, including other layout studies and cost calculations, so that the assignment allocation for the construction could be carried out. With project management and a multidisciplinary approach, the detail engineering and the complete construction supervision were provided after Veolia assigned the task for construction to PMF Mechanical. The calculation of the installation took into account the lifting, and road and sea transport. A FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) was passed successfully. A crucial challenge was to meet the high standards of the NORSOK Certification. We had proven experience in this during a previous project that Veolia carried out for the gas field Ormen Lange.
